We don’t operate a traditional hire yard. Roadside pickup is available from Banora Point. Full pickup details are provided after booking but generally within close proximity to Tweed Heights Shopping Village.

Each trailer has different weight limits. Your booking confirmation will include the ATM, tare weight and maximum payload. Always ensure your tow vehicle is rated appropriately.

No. Customers are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate insurance for their own circumstances. This may include insurance for their towing vehicle, public liability, accidental damage, theft, roadside assistance, and any goods or personal property carried in or on the trailer.

Your car must be fitted with a tow ball and have the equal or greater than towing capacity for our trailers.

Before towing one of our trailers, it is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle is legally capable of towing it.

Your vehicle's maximum braked or unbraked towing capacity (depending on the trailer) must be equal to or greater than the trailer's Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM).

What is ATM?

Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM) is the maximum legal weight of the trailer when fully loaded.

It includes:

• Trailer weight (tare)

• Cargo

• Accessories

• Anything carried in the trailer

Three Things You Need to Check

Your legal towing capacity is limited by the lowest-rated component.

1. Vehicle Towing Capacity

Check your owner's manual or manufacturer's specifications.

Look for:

• Maximum Braked Towing Capacity

• Maximum Unbraked Towing Capacity

2. Towbar Rating

Your towbar has its own maximum towing capacity, usually shown on the compliance plate.

3. Tow Ball Rating

Your tow ball is also rated and should never be exceeded.

Other Important Limits

Even if your towing capacity is sufficient, you must also ensure:

• Your vehicle remains within its Gross Combined Mass (GCM).

• The trailer is loaded correctly, with the weight evenly distributed.

• The trailer is properly restrained.

• The trailer's ball weight is within your vehicle and towbar limits.

• Your tyres are correctly inflated and suitable for the load.

When choosing a trailer, you'll often see three important weight ratings:

• Tare Weight

• ATM (Aggregate Trailer Mass)

• Payload

Understanding these terms helps ensure you tow safely and legally.

Tare Weight

The weight of the empty trailer.

This includes the trailer itself and any permanently fitted accessories such as the cage or spare wheel, but does not include any cargo.

Example

• Empty trailer = 350 kg

• Nothing loaded inside

Tare Weight = 350 kg

Payload

The maximum weight you can load into the trailer.

This is the weight of everything you put inside the trailer, including:

• Garden waste

• Furniture

• Building materials

• Motorbikes

• Appliances

• Tools

• Rubbish

Example

• Empty trailer = 350 kg

• Loaded with 400 kg of garden waste

Payload = 400 kg

Aggregate Trailer Mass (ATM)

ATM is the maximum legal weight of the fully loaded trailer.

It includes:

✓ Everything loaded inside

When the trailer is not connected to your vehicle, all of this weight is supported by the trailer's wheels and jockey wheel.

The 8×5 1400 ATM trailer is fitted with override brakes. The 7×4 750kg ATM is unbaked. Your vehicle does not require any additional trailer braking systems.

Yes, 21 years old unless otherwise agreed in writing by Banora Trailer Hire

An Australian driver's licence is sufficient, provided your vehicle is legally permitted to tow the trailer and your licence does not restrict you from towing the trailer you are hiring.

You can cancel your booking at any time. Cancellations made more than 48 hours before your hire start time receive a full refund (less any non-refundable payment processing fees). Cancellations within 48 hours may incur a cancellation fee. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for full details.

For safety and insurance reasons, trailers must not be used for prohibited materials including:

• Asbestos

• Hazardous chemicals

• Biohazards

• Radioactive materials

• Sewage

• Wet concrete

• Fuels and oils
